The Decline and Fall of the American Empire (Part One)

Gibbon wrote that the decline of the Roman Empire was caused by the loss of civic virtue and rise in laziness among Roman citizens.

Today, some people wonder if our own civilization faces a similar decline. Scholars have weighed in on both sides of the argument.

However, given that there are finite resources in the world, and we are spending a lot of ours pushing eight-foot tall inflatable christmas snowglobes, I think we're in trouble.

I thought word verification stopped the spam. Or is this post why you started with the word verification?

You can get rid of it, you know. Just click on the rubbish bin at the bottom of weblogz message and follow the bouncing ball from there.. Hopefully the bouncing ball will be covered in spikes which will poke holes in the inflatable Santas.

Lt. woman, I did start word verification after the spam in this thread showed up- it actually seems I'm getting spam immediately after any new posts publish- I have created and deleted early drafts of a some things and had spam show up w/in five minutes. I do not know the rubbish bin of which you speak, but will look into it.

HEY! Christmas decorations are a vital and important part of being happy! Even very large ones like this (which I am already saving up for).

Want to save resources, sack something like...oh I dunno...politicians.

I also not from the date on this entry that you are slipping back into your evil slack ways of not paying attention to your posting.

HEY EVERYONE! New LAST Wurm thread starts here!
